The City of Sallisaw has amended its Emergency Proclamation to include a curfew and shelter in place orders for the community.
Effective at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday April 4, 2020 the City will institute a citywide curfew from the hours of 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. This curfew shall exempt essential workers, essential businesses and services and emergency travel. Essential Business workers should carry an Essential Business Letter from their employer. Also, effective at this time, the City is directing all citizens within the corporate city limits of Sallisaw to shelter in place until further notice following the guidelines of the Proclamation. Citizens may still perform essential activities as described in the Proclamation, but the city stresses to continue to follow proper hygiene and social distancing guidelines.
The Emergency Proclamation, as amended, may be viewed on our website, www.sallisawok.org. The City of Sallisaw will also post updated COVID-19 information to all of our social media sites as it becomes available. The City emphasizes that all citizens must familiarize themselves with the Proclamation and its guidelines.
“We ask all citizens to think about themselves, their families, their co-workers and their community, and continue to follow the guidelines issued by local, State and Federal authorities,” stated Keith Skelton, City Manager. “Please pay attention to the events as they unfold and continue to obtain factual information from legitimate sources.
