[ARCHIVED] New Work Crews Established Within City

The City of Sallisaw recently established two new work crews for the City using available manpower and equipment from several departments. Construction and Tree Trimming crews were established to help offset outside contractor costs for future projects.

By forming a three person tree trimming crew, the City expects to save approximately $100,000 per year by not having to utilize an outside contractor. This crew will be responsible for trimming trees in city right-of-way that could interfere with city utility operations.

The new construction crew consists of five employees tasked with performing construction work for future city projects. These projects include a new landfill leachate lagoon, new landfill solid waste cell and dirt work for a new flow basin at the wastewater treatment plant. Significant costs savings on dirt work alone will be realized by utilizing existing city crews and equipment.
