[ARCHIVED] Sallisaw Resolution Supports FCC Intention to Remove State Barriers to Broadband

The City of Sallisaw recently passed Resolution 2014-17 supporting the FCC in its efforts to possibly remove state barriers allowing city governments to provide broadband services.

Recently the Washington D.C. circuit court determined that Section 706 of the Federal Telecommunications Act of 1996 allows the FCC to remove existing state barriers that deter municipalities from investing in broadband infrastructure.

Sallisaw, which launched DiamondNet in 2005, joins many other city governments across the United States in supporting the FCC in its efforts.
