Retransmission Consent is a term used widely in the cable television industry today. It is a term that greatly affects DiamondNet as a cable television provider and you, our valued customers.

So what is Retransmission Consent?  Retransmission Consent is a provision of the 1992 United States Cable Television Consumer Protection and Competition Act that requires cable operators and other multi-channel video programming distributors (MVPDs) to obtain permission from broadcasters before carrying their programming.  To obtain programming from these providers, DiamondNet must negotiate a fee to pay the broadcaster for their permission to provide the channel on the DiamondNet network.   Often though it isnt just a fee that is demanded by the broadcaster.  Many times the broadcaster will force us to carry other unwanted television programming that our audience has no desire to watch.
